Dominican Selected on West Indies Cricket Team
Sanford is the first Dominican in over 20 years on WI-XI Team

by: Thomson Fontaine

For the first time in
over 20 years, Dominica is being represented on the West Indies cricket team
(In 2000 Wayne Phillip played as stand in wicket keeper for the West Indies tour
of England). Twenty- six year-old right arm fast bowler Adam Sanford from the
Carib Territory was selected for the current West Indies series against the
visiting Indian team. Sanford has been very impressive in his debut and appears to have cemented
his berth in the West Indies team. His most
impressive moment to date was the removal of arguably the best batsman in the world Sachen Tendulkar for a duck in the second innings of the second test in Trinidad.
In the two test matches played to date, he has captured seven wickets for an average of 34 runs, and is a very welcome addition to a West Indies team that has been bruised and battered. After drawing the first test, the West Indies continued their poor form by losing to India in the second test.
