Roseau, Dominica (TDN)
Dominica will end this year with significantly greater air access into the country. On December 18 American Airlines launched an additional direct daily flight from the country’s Charles Douglas international airport to Miami, USA.
This immediately doubled daily nonstop capacity between the two countries thus strengthening travel links to the United States and beyond during the busy peak winter season.
The news from American airlines came just weeks after the announcement by United Airlines that it will double its weekly flights between Dominica and Newark, New Jersey. The additional weekly flight will now operate every Wednesday thus complementing the weekly Saturday flight to the same destination.
It is not clear whether the flights will continue beyond the Winter season or how the travel ban announced by the Trump administration will have any effect on this much needed airlift.
Dominica with its incredible rugged natural beauty including mountains, lakes and rivers has been highly touted as a superior tourism destination, which up to now has been clearly underserved.
