A court in Dominica has denied bail to two men charged for murder in the shooting death of  Pascal “Neg” Frederick of the Kalinago Territory who resided in Fond Cole.

When 24 year old Tyrone Theophille and 23 year old Jervon Vidal appeared in court on Monday, Magistrate Laudat denied their application for bail and instead remanded the two men to the Stockfarm Prison, where they will remain until their preliminary hearing on 5 December 2022.

Police in Dominica had earlier arrested the two men after an investigation following the brutal slaying of Frederick on 17 July 2022. Frederick was reportedly found lying on the floor of a small shop with a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.

In denying bail to the accused, Magistrate Michael Laudat lamented the increasing number of victims on account of gun violence in Dominica. The men are represented by attorney Wayne Norde.

Frederick’s death brings to 13 the number of murders in Dominica so far in 2022.
