Portsmouth, Dominica (TDN) -- Crime Stoppers Dominica was presented with a $25,000 contribution to its crime fighting initiative recently by Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) Vice Dean of Administration Peter Goetz. Ms. Genevieve Astaphan, a Director on the Crime Stoppers Board, and Mr. Geoffrey Guye, were on on-hand to accept the check.
Crime Stoppers is a community based, non-profit organization managed by a civilian volunteer board of directors. Crime It is a partnership between the community, the media and law enforcement, with a mandate to work together to solve and prevent crime. It gives an opportunity to the public to assist in the fight against crime without fear of being identified or exposed by a guarantee of anonymity and confidentiality, and offers rewards for useful information.
Mr. Goetz applauded Ms. Astaphan and her team for initiating this timely and necessary program. He asserted that RUSM is committed to working along with Crime Stoppers Dominica and the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, to curb the incidence of crime, and make the country safe for residents and visitors alike.
Ms. Astaphan thanked RUSM for its support of the program, and re-emphasized the need for everyone, not just the police, to get involved in the eradication of crime in Dominica, as it is everyone’s responsibility.
Among those present at the ceremony, were RUSM’s Chief of Security, Mr. Dennis Gordon, RUSM’s representative on Crime Stoppers Dominica Board of Directors, Mr. Trevor Moreau, RUSM’s Executive Administrator, Mr. Ryan Didier, and Superintendent of the Northern District, Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, Duke Severin.
