Dominica visited by a sea lion
TheDominican.net

sea lion
The sea lion appeared to be enjoying all the attention.
The recent sighting of a sea lion off the Northern coast of Dominica was enough to get hundreds of spectators flocking to the beach to view the unusual spectacle.

The California sea lions are not usually seen in the Atlantic Ocean preferring to reside in the cooler Pacific, so it was no wonder that the crowds came out.

The sea lion moved up and down the shoreline periodically coming up to the waters edge where the crowd of onlookers attempted to interact with the creature and feed it with fish. It appeared to enjoy the attention and seemed untroubled by all the activity.

It was later learned that the sea lion was one of a few sea lions that escaped from the Marine World in St. Kitts during the passage of hurricane Omar in October.

Contact was quickly made with the management of the aquarium in St. Kitts and the onlookers were advised to feed the sea lion at least two pounds of fish. This was successfully done and the following day relieved workers from the aquarium went to Portsmouth to retrieve their prize possession. E-mail to a friend
