Vince Henderson presents his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Vince Henderson, the new Permanent Representative of Dominica to the United Nations, today presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The former Parliamentary Representative for St. Joseph and Foreign Affairs Minister recently resigned from active politics and replaces Ambassador Crispin Gregoire who served in the post for eight years.

From 2000 to 2008, Henderson served successively as Minister for Housing and Physical Planning, Minister for Agriculture and the Environment, and Minister for Education, Human Resource Development, Sports and Youth Affairs.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2000, when he defeated Doreen James of the United Workers Party (UWP) and served in Parliament until his resignation in December 2009. The former educator who started off as a teacher of chemistry and integrated sciences in 1991 eventually rose to Acting Deputy Principal of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Huddersfield and Holbourn College in the United Kingdom, a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the American College for Computer and Information Systems in Birmingham, Alabama, United States, and a diploma in education from New Mexico State University, also in the United States.
