Police in Dominica say they are holding two men in connection with the gruesome murders of three young men last week.
Special Services Unit (SSU) police officers surrounded the business place of Curtis "Shakes" Richards, a Newtown businessman and owner of the boat in which the three were held and took him into custody.
Another man, whom police have not named and who was believed to be on the boat with the three turned himself into police over the weekend. According to Deputy Police Commissioner Cyril Carette, the search continues for another young man who was also on the boat.
He was not named and police did not say if they knew his identity.
Richards, who owned the boat discovered by police drifting off the Salisbury coast in which the murdered men were found, had earlier reported to the police that his boat was stolen.
In a crime that shocked residents of a country not known for violent crime, three young men, Mannison Thomas aka Shabin of Fond St. Jean, Kenneth Birmingham aka Kamala of Kings Hill and Allan Bardouille of Newtown were found riddled with bullets and lying in a pool of blood in the boat.
The murders of the three, believed to be related to a botched drug deal brought the number of murders in Dominica to thirteen, a record number of killings in that country. The previous record deaths in any one year in Dominica was eight recorded in 2008.
