The Prime Ministers of Dominica
Go to:

Roosevelt Skerrit (January 2004 - Present)

At the age of thirty-one, Skeritt became the world's youngest serving Prime Minister. He was thrust to the helm of his party following the sudden death of Pierre Charles.

Educated in the United states, Skerrit was inspired by Rosie Douglas and helped him win the 2000 elections by securing a seat in his birthplace of Vielle Case.

In one of his first diplomatic maneuvers, he suspended relations with China and forged diplomatic ties with Mainland China.

Within his first few months in office, he had travelled to Cuba, Libya and Venezuela where he succeeded in securing assistance from all three countries.

In May 2005, Skeritt sucessfully led his DLP to a one seat majority in the country's legislature thus securing a five-year term of office.
