St Joseph, Dominica (TDN) The man at the center of the Christmas Day firebombing of the home of attorney GON Emanuel was shot over the weekend and is currently at the Princess Margaret Hospital nursing a gunshot wound

Denny Shillingford who confessed to the firebombing and claimed that he was asked to set the fire by Earl “Secko” Grant was shot by an unnamed assailant.

Earlier this year Shillingford who was serving time at the Stockfarm prison on unrelated charges was mysteriously released before the completion of his sentence.

In May 2013 police in Dominica charged Earl ‘Seko’ Grant and Denny Shillingford in connection with the 2010 Christmas Day firebombing. Denny’s shooting comes just days before that case was to be heard in a magistrate’s court in Dominica.

The GON Emanuel case has ignited a great deal of controversy and accusations leveled against the authorities for not moving more aggressively to bring the case to its conclusion.

The firebombing came just weeks after the attorney accused Stephen Isidore the lawyer of prime minister Rosevelt Skerrit on more than 42 counts of criminal misconduct surrounding the use of more than $7.0 million.

It is alleged that the monies were part of kickbacks paid to the Skerrit regime through the law firm of GON Emanuel where Isidore was a junior partner.

There have been no arrests made in connection with this latest shooting incident.
