New comer Checko among calypso semifinalists

Roseau, Dominica (TDN) —- The mighty Checko with his hugely famous hit AM –PM worked his way into the semifinal of the 2012 Dominica Calypso competition along with fellow new comer Black Diamond singing Pit Toilet.
The two are among 20 calypsonians who qualified out of over forty that competed in a tightly held contest over the weekend.
Also making the cut are veterans Hunter, Scrunter, Jamma B, Webb, Dice, Vigilante, Comforter, Bobb, Triumph, Soul Puss, Checker, Observer, Pickie, Dice, Logars, Sye, Caressa, Explosion and Peter Pross.
No other female calypsonians qualified for the semi finals where eight will be selected to face reigning Monarch Tasha P at the Grand Finals on February 18, 2012.
