Toronto, Canada (TDN) -- As I celebrate my Olympic Bronze Medal with the Canadian Olympic Women Soccer (Football) team, I wish to give thanks and pay tribute to Dominica where I lived for the first 8 years of my life.
I resided in Goodwill with my parents, Vans and Winsome LeBlanc, and that's where I first went to school at Miss Eugene's Pre-school and later Convent Prep.
Whatever success I have achieved, Dominica has had a major role in shaping and nurturing my initial upbringing, my character and my talents.
I thank especially my extended families and their friends, especially those from Porthmouth to Borne to Vieille Case, and their related families all over Dominica and overseas, including those who follow
and encourage me on my fan page on facebook, my twitter and my webpage:
I also wish to recognise the indirect contributions to my upbringing made by the AIDB, National Bank, DGS and Dominica Teachers College (now Dominica State College), institutions with which my Dad (Vans LeBlanc) and Mom (Winsome LeBlanc) were affiliated for many years
during parts of my life Dominica.
I last visited Dominica in 2003/2004 (too long ago) and I cannot forget the overwhelming goodwill and encouragement I received, especially during the brief goalkeeper camp I conducted at Lindo Park in Goodwill.
For those who may not be aware, if it were not for Hurricane David I would have been born in Dominica, but I still feel blessed with my Dominican heritage.
