Lest History Repeats Itself - We Need a Unity & Progress Government Now!

Concerned Dominicans and Friends:

Whether we have agreed with him in the past or not, we must all commend Lennox Linton for exposing the unsavory allegations now before a court in Tortola. Some of us had heard of these things and could not believe it true. The events in the summer 2008 and the government's geothermal license sell out of the national interest which Adenauer "Washway" Douglas and myself condemned, brought us in for criticism from some we considered friends and "comrades."

Then, we warned that such corrupt dealings over use and control over our natural resources would not find support from us and threatened the future of the country. Declared persona non grata from officialdom, we stood our ground. Now the program by Mr. Linton seems to shed some light into how government business in Dominica now often seems mired in the unethical.

This cannot be allowed to continue or we will lose our country. People will come into our country, seize it, and we will have no one but ourselves to blame where we knew better but shut our mouths, eyes, and ears and did nothing. We will be footstools to the paid-for citizens who have paid off our so-called leaders.

Cast about the world's landscape and witness the failed states which litter the globe. They are failed states because ordinary people, and the influential, allowed impunity to go unexposed and unpunished. The IPO Chairman must act and tell Dominicans why he has not made a move to officially act on the complaint filed by Mr. Linton. Why Mr. Johnson? Why the silence?

As we read of Bajans such as Hartley Henry advising our government in matters of state such as at the Bellagio in Vegas or with regard to China and "our" Ambassador David King Hsiu one cannot but recall another Bajan by the name of Sydney Burnette Alleyne in 1979. We saw that in 1979 the corrupt dealings of Patrick John led to social disorder and disturbances.

Despite progressive Labourites pleading with PJ to change his ways, he would not. When he would not listen, he lost power. Those of us who remember how misbehavior in office reaped the wrath of our people made this solemn warning last year, to no avail. Few in leadership took heed.

To Supporters of the Government

To all leaders of the Government and the honest men and women in the Labour Party: This is not what we struggled for a lifetime to do; put persons lacking in ethics and lawful behavior in charge of our affairs. We ask now, that you disassociate yourself before it is too late.

Most of you in the cabinet do not have a clue to what is being done in the name of our beloved homeland. Do not be heard to say you did not know of the misbehavior of those who were given a mandate to work honestly on behalf of the state. The news of unethical behavior has only gotten worst, even where the government has had every opportunity to clear its name.

Cabinet members routinely tell me they do not know anything about the meetings in Bellagio, Macau or what official status is held by the likes of Rudolph King (now under arrest for fraud) and Hartley Henry (the Barbadian named in papers from the Hsiu lawsuit in Tortola).

We also had the case of the Russian Laschkin who served as our ambassador in Switzerland and was being sued in 2006. To escape justice he used his diplomatic cover as Dominica’s ambassador and caused Dominica to file suit against the host country.

That suit was later, under the pressure of embarrassment of the figures involved, dismissed. Attorney General Ian Douglas claimed to know nothing of all this. And there is more to come from that angle of people being given diplomatic passports and sullying our people’s good name in the international arena; making us seem a nation of unscrupulous persons – which is not the case.

Dominicans are intelligent, law abiding and hard working for the most part and we must protect the image of our country at all times. Therefore this nonsense of having unsavory characters act as our ambassadors is a national disgrace and must stop now.

None in cabinet can tell me they agreed to such a sale of 700 passports for $100,000 each or they knew of the meetings at the Bellagio or Dorchester. Does not our cabinet have the authority to govern our affairs? Shall we be governed by the whims and fancies of a few government leaders out for their own personal interest? What role does Hsiu and Hartley Henry play in our affairs?

What is their mandate from our people? What is the scope of their contractual or other relationships with Dominica's government? Where are the memos they send to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as their names appear on our behalf in overseas dealings? At whose direction do these men operate?

Who will pay the bill when their conduct enmeshes us in commitments which result in lawsuits as that in Tortola? Who is paying the Prime Minister's legal expenses? Our people? And why should our treasury shoulder the bill where the activities being sued about have nothing to do with the national interest or was not agreed to by cabinet?

Will it be said that our cabinet is made up of the deaf, dumb and blind? Or will they, rise up in righteous indignation and redeem the honor of the country and those who died to make us free?

To my friends and the patriots in government, I say: Clear your names. Make it clear that you reject corruption and the use of public office for personal gain. All civil servants must now stand up and expose corruption where they see it. How will you answer when asked: What did you know? And when did you know it?

Your children and your children's children will remember your heroism and honor when you stand for what is right. All Dominicans of faith, honor and goodwill will applaud you. Only the ignoble, and their devious acolytes, will find fault with you. Of their threats you should never be afraid.

An informed and energized patriotic people will ensure that you shall survive the recriminations from those who only seek their own selfish interest not the national interest. The road to tyranny is paved with the complacence of those who remain silent in the face of inequitable conduct.

The Dominican Ambassador to the UN, when questioned, has distanced himself from this stench of corruption. We expect more government officials, ministers and supporters of the Dominica Labour Party to clearly distance themselves from any and all corrupt dealings - dealings done in Dominica's name by our so-called public servants.

Too many delayed their indignation and outrage at bad behavior in government and the Labour Party was consigned to 20 years in the political wilderness. We are at such an impasse once again, exactly 30 years after the fact. We must not make the same mistake. We must secure the best interest of our dear homeland first!

Now, with increasing economic challenges, our government is distracted by lawsuits and allegations of corrupt dealings such as the sale of 700 Dominica passports for $100,000 via David Hsiu. On the internet there is a photo of Dominica Ambassador David Hsiu donating money to China - where did that money come from? Passport sales? Who accounted for that money? How many Chinese citizens are there? How many are eligible to vote in the next elections? Without an answer to those questions our democracy will be endangered by phantom Dominicans casting ballots for their sponsors of choice.

What of ALBA?

What about ALBA and the heroism of Jose Marti and Simon Bolivar? What about "All Shall Eat" and the principles of social justice which motivate the members of that grouping? Do members of the ALBA group of nations sell out their birthright and natural resources?

Do they meet at fancy hotels such as the Dorchester, the Bellagio in Las Vegas or Macau to do deals on the side; behind the backs of their people. Or is ALBA about protecting social justice and making sure our geothermal energy, aggregate and other resources go toward the national interest and benefits the common man? Who are we trying to fool here?

ALBA is predicated on indigenous people controlling their affairs - not a sell out to foreign money men who can buy influence and sway a nation to their own nefarious ends.

2000 Election was about Good Governance

There was justified criticism of the UWP in 2000. There was the same issue of passport sales. Remember the 60 Chinese who showed up in Canada with Dominican passports? That event embarrassed the UWP and led Canada to tighten entry requirements for Dominicans entering that country.

Yet, despite these allegations against the UWP, no one was prosecuted. The election brought in a coalition of Labour, UWP and Freedom Party personages. Much good was accomplished at great cost; with much effort, sacrifice and loss of life of Rosie and Pierro; then some took a detour from the promises made and are leading our nation down the wrong path.

Where are we now? Do we have good governance? I must humbly suggest now that, despite some good moves, we have applauded - and still applaud - this government has lost its way. The 2000 Good Governance Coalition based on trust and ethics has collapsed and is not represented by the current administration. Hence the decision of an increasing number of honest Labour Party supporters to part ways from this mockery of LeBlanc, Rosie and Pierro's struggles for a better Dominica.

No Accountability? Remember 1979

Where is the accountability or transparency in this regime? Such good governance was the legacy of LeBlanc, Rosie and Pierro. We must never abandon that legacy. Mike Douglas must be turning in his grave that his son, Ian, as Minister of Legal Affairs, cannot be heard from at this crucial time.

Where trust is lost and the government is unable to explain these issues of corrupt dealings in any honest and forthright manner, rule of law is in danger. No wonder we see a flourishing of crime where there is an absence of sincere leadership in things big and small at the helm. Attached below is an article from the US Times Magazine - as a follow up to the 1979 debacle; it is worth reviewing. Fellow Dominicans take note: A people who forget their history are doomed to repeat it.

I say act now; take a stand and condemn corruption in public office. Separate yourselves from such behavior. Do not claim you did not know. We call on all Dominicans to support our call for a Unity and Progress Government which will bring all patriotic political forces - from all the parties - together. At a time of global economic meltdown we cannot afford leadership enmeshed in such distractions and allegations of wrongdoing which have not been rebutted with any degree of clarity or honesty. We need men and women who can focus on our beloved homeland's development and who will do their jobs honestly, competently, with the national interest foremost; without fair or favor.

Friends:

This is a voice copy of a radio statement with devastating sad news about malfeasance in the governance in Dominica. One allegation this statement: 700 passports at $100,000 USD each, with no accountability to the country which is in the public domain. This was given to one Chinese Hsiu who is then made Dominica's Ambassadors to China. After a falling out, he sues Prime Minister Skerrit in Tortola. The case is ongoing. Yet, Hsiu is still ambassador.

I call on all those who love Dominica, when you have finished hearing this statement, whether you believe we currently have a government leadership which can be trusted to protect the national independence, territorial integrity or good governance of our homeland.

Listen, ponder our fate as people, consider the importance of honesty in all things and stand for a better Dominica, NOW!

In this process, I ask: Let us not be blinded by friendship, party allegiance or personal gain when reviewing the need for us to have integrity in public office. Many nations now wallow in poverty and distress, where malfeasance in public and private life was allowed to go along unpunished and not criticized. Consequently, the breakdown in law and order escalated. We are seeing such drift and escalating crime in Dominica today because of the toxic side effects of corruption in public office. When we warned last year about the sell out to the Russian fly by night of our geothermal resources many were still deluded into saying "give the man a break;" missing the point that our birthright was being bargained away for personal gain and a mess of pottage.

In our national anthem, our creed is noted and we are urged thus:

Come ye forward, sons and daughters
Of this gem beyond compare.
Strive for honor, sons and daughters,
Do the right, be firm, be fair.

Or, from one who sacrificed for the betterment of all people - in particular our kind - it is stated:

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Take a stand for justice and honor, if you consider the value and integrity of this portion of our national anthem and the words of Dr. King.

We must ask for all in and out of government to disassociate from this cancer of corrupt behavior which is corroding the national entity we call Dominica; and that those who are so engaged must resign where they are involved therein. I will personally call on all patriots - in our out of government, or in or out of the Dominica Labour Party to so disassociate themselves before it is too late.

We must never sell out our country or debase the legacy of those who struggled and died for our betterment.

The struggles continues!

I remain,

Gabriel J. Christian

I will have to agree with the last 17th feb posting. Gabriel's article (if you want to call it that) was one that expressed hatred, towards a group of selected people who did him wrong. Or might I say refused to give him something. I will remain reserved for the best interest of all. Don't think for a second that you are more deserving to be the PM that skeritt. Show that facts, fact and stop speculating and spreading propaganda (and yes I read you attachments). WHAT ACTIONS ARE YOU TAKING YOUSELF TO PROTECT DOMINICANS. WHAT SOLUTION DO YOU OFFER. Until then, it all propaganda. Itassi power. The definition of propaganda:

Propaganda is the dissemination of information aimed at influencing the opinions or behaviors of large numbers of people. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense presents information in order to influence its audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or gives loaded messages in order to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda.

Propaganda is the deliberate, systematic attempt to shape perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behavior to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist.
Damn. this reminds me of an article I just read.

Trevor, how is it not politics. You have politicians masking themselves as journalist and prosecuting Skerrit in the public radio.
When the dust is cleared and all is settled, Skerrit will be vindicated and Dominica will move on.

Show me one government in the world that is not corrupt. Show me Lenox Linton's track record. Show me the track record of the UWP, are they innocent? What have we done for Dominica? Those who have left and went away, why do we only wait until some disgruntled takes an issue and spin it. Would Gabriel Christian and friends give up practice to return to Dominica to set up shop????

Gabu, what it's in it for you? What is it that you really wanted that the DLP didn't surrender to you. Because from the looks of it, you seem to come across as some strong are revolutionary. Its almost like , if I don't get my way then all hell broke.

And then you want D/cans to do your work for you.

Please leave your kushy job in the US and be like the average man in DA. After that we can take you seriously.

OKAY

Where was Gabriel Christian when the DLP was rebuilding? Where was he when the DLP was looking for candidates? If he was so patriotic he would could have been in government. But, Gabu its your way or nothing at all. Since DGS you have always seen yourself as the Brightest Man on Earth. You know it all... You think its an insult to you to have a leader like Skeritt. Lets get real guys.

Instead of talking, come home join the fun. Form your party. Struggle like the rest of us. As for Linton. An arrogant, unqualified. Bitter against his very own. Think he is in a class above the rest. Let him run for public office. Same goes for Christian. Run for public office, win then you can open your mouth and talk.

When Edison offered Linton the Senator seat why did he refuse it? Gabu get real and stop spreading hatred, grudge, bad mind on the net. Listening to you guys one would think Dominica was the most corrupt country on earth.

But the eyes of the people are open, they have ears they can hear. They can tell the difference between hungry for power and genuine patriots. All you guys are doing is making matters worse for you if ever you decide, or have the balls to run for public office.

More Power to you and the grudging ones!!!! But, United We Stand...Labour Power...

Well friends, countrymen and compatriots, if these allegations are true, we are in deep deep trouble in deed.

Well this seems like 'I told you and here we go again' story.

We need a collosal paradigm shift and a new sense of order in the way we govern, conduct ourselves, deal with our issues and conflict resolution.

By way of disclosure, I am not anti-government, pro opposition or vise versa. I support Dominica and all what it ought to be-meaning good governance, transparency, competent and honest leadership.

These are serious charges that must be answered by the Prime Minister and not by his lawyers and protectors. Also the sides making these allegations must substantiate them.

But all too often in our culture, we cannot have a decent conversation on matters. 3rd world politics gets in the way of serious policy discussions and debate.

But all too often because of our island's economic reality, no body wants to take a chance to question the government--that would be economic suicide--understandably.

But Dominica belongs to the Dominican people where ever we find ourselves and how long we have lived away.

Weather we reside in La Plaine,La ronde or London, or Woodford Hill or Washington DC, Dominica belongs to us and we have a right to question our government.

Gabo I commend you on the article but your critics contend that its a bit late. How do you answer that? Why didn't you 'declarway' sooner? Your timing may be a bit off or is it?You may need to explain this as well.

Well folks, politics threatens our island again. We dodged a bullet in 1979 but can we now? Whatever your postion please pray for our island home---Lord knows it needs all the prayers it can get.

Thanks

Emanuel Finn,
Washington DC

While I have never agreed to have my country represented by foreign nationals, some of whom have never visited Dominica, this is not the first time it has happened.
It have been happening under Freedom and recently under UWP. Our representatives to organizations like: UNESCO, FAO, WTO, to name a few are all non-native Dominicans.
Why wasn't it challenged before? Why now and only now? Let us now look into it. Find out and question who represents our country at these meetings and why.
Don't we have qualified Dominicans to do same?
Its one thing to be a messenger but the timing of your message is always important. The motives of your message could be to lead others into destruction... Why investigate a few...some....and pretend that others are angels?
Lets get real guys!!!
I would like to remind Gabu...
There is no Revolution without the Peasants!!!! Victoria Popular...
How much Peasant support do you have in Dominica? What have you done to help "Poor Maleway"...in DA? How many Ghetto kids have you sponsored?

90% of you are striking the messenger but totally forgot the message.

The fact remains that this is an elected government, and I dere say a government that some of you in the Die-ASS-Poorer help elect.

Those of you who are blasting, Gabu and Lennox continue to do that .. but when you are done, stop, think and then ask yourself these questions.

1. If the information brought forth is correct, then is that what you want for Dominica? Regardless of who is doing it? Eddo, Skero, Roni or whomever? If you are Dominican then I think you answer will be NO, NO , NO.

2. Does the fact that Gabu is not in Dominica have anything to do with determining whether the actions of the government is right or wrong? No it doesn't.

3. Have you pause and looked at Dominica 10 Years from now? Do you like what you see?

4. Lennox read from court documents in the BVI? they are on record, Have you read it and made your own determination?

5. If the messengers did or did not get anything from the DLP nad now the crying fowl, Does that have anything to do with the message, and the content therein? Does that make the facts in the message any less factual?

6. Does Lennox track record , prevents him from reading court documents and bringing it to the people? Does it affect the content and the facts in the Documents?

7. For those of you who say Gabu Listen to one side, You have no idea what Gabu Listen to or have read. For your information The other Side is the Sworn documents filed by the PM in that same court, and which Lennox have read multiple times on his previous shows. Have you read the other side? I think Gabu Has.. his article speaks for itself.

In essence, people, if you all are truly concerned about the future of Dominica, you will stop kicking down the messengers and critise the substance of the message, with your own facts.

Further I would hope that your party politics will be secondary to where Dominica needs to be in the next 10-15years.

Merci Tout MooooN!

Let's forget about Gabe for now. Gabe was not elected by the people. Skerrit was and so is answerable to the public.

These allegations are very serious and cannot be disguised by focusing on the motives of the messenger.

Are the allegations true? Why is the PM involved in so much commess? I'm hearimg Russian and Chinese mafia.

Why is Dominica for sale? So let's focus on the real problem and stop laying blame on Gabe.

The PM has a lot to answer for. He is answerable to the public and not Gabe.

Anonymous you seemed to be very angry- Why all that anger?

Again Dominica belongs to the Dominican people and not to politicians. I am not sure you get this.

If their is any patriot out there is is Gabu. Yes I have known Gabu since 1st form. Yes he learned a very hard lesson that 'there are no permanent friends in politics just permanent interests'.

Dominica belongs to Dominicans and NOT to Politicians.........and certianly not other folks with alternative agendas from capaitals far away from Roseau.

You and others seem ready for war.

In the final analysis Sir this discussion is unprecedented and is about Dominica and not Gabriel or any other colorful politican or personality who happens to be part of the government of the day. Politicans and personalities come and go but Dominca remains.
Embrace the discussion if you are able to.

How a Russian Became Dominica's Ambassador
Thomson Fontaine

Like most Dominicans, I was stunned by the news that our country had hauled Switzerland before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), on charges of alleged violations of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Nothing however prepared me for the news of the person on whose behalf the case was brought. Roman Lakschin, is Dominica’s special envoy to the United Nations, its Specialized Agencies and the World Trade Organization (WTO) since March 1996, and as a member of the Permanent Mission of Dominica to the United Nations in Geneva (first as a Counsellor, later as a Chargé d’affaires and Deputy Permanent Representative with the rank of Ambassador).

The circumstances of Lakschin appointment were indeed curious. In March 1996, he was appointed Counsellor to the Dominica UN mission in Geneva by then Prime Minister Edison James, in a move that very few Dominicans were made aware of. In December 1996, the Swiss government withdrew his accreditation claiming that he could no longer act as a diplomat since he was indeed a businessman, and he should leave the post by February 1997.

Surprisingly, in March 1997, Edison James renewed his appointment, making Lakschin Head of Mission and claiming that he was accredited to the UN and not to Switzerland. Two months later he was elevated to Ambassador.

Lakschin is a Russian citizen who joined three hundred other Russians of questionable repute who were awarded Dominican passports under the disgraced Economic Citizenship program. A program that resulted in visa restrictions on Dominicans entering Canada.

Lakschin resides in Monaco but has extensive financial and business dealings in Switzerland. Dominicans could have been spared the embarrassment of world scrutiny and could have been forever kept in the dark about the appointment if it was not for the business dealings of Lakschin.

As it turns out, Lakschin was recently sued in the Swiss courts for close to a quarter million dollars, one of several cases brought against him. In an attempt to escape justice, he evoked diplomatic immunity claiming that he was still Dominica’s Ambassador. The Swiss government stood firm by their earlier decision that as a businessman, he could not be an Ambassador.

At that point, the story gets a little bizarre. Lakschin subsequently goes to Dominica and somehow convinces Foreign Minister Charles Sevarin to drag another sovereign country before the international court of justice (ICJ). A court better known for dealing with egregious human rights abuses and murderous dictators.

By all accounts, Switzerland was blind-sided by the move, and immediately lodged a complaint with Dominica. It turns out that the court of last resort suddenly became the first means of dealing with a dispute. No diplomatic note or formal complaint was launched as is the normal course of diplomatic exchanges.

Apparently, several members of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit’s Cabinet were also taken by surprise. Since the announcement by the ICJ, Dominica’s Attorney General Ian Douglas has announced his government’s intention to withdraw the case. Several Dominicans have also began to call for Sevarin’s resignation.

Interestingly, the complaint prepared by Professor Ingrid Detter Frankopan, who is listed as a member of the London bar and a Professor of International law, claims that Switzerland should “not be allowed to use colonial powers to control a small state like Dominica”.

Thankfully, the authorities in Dominica appears set on doing the right thing and withdrawing a case, which has served to draw world-wide attention on a misplaced economic citizenship policy. Surely, as s proud Nation we can do better than that and move to repair the country’s image in the eyes of the international community.

For someone who claims to know the law, how could Gabriel Christian listen to that one sided version of Lynton's radio address and believe that this is truthful. It calls to question his legal skills or clearly indicates his biase. Any clear thinking legal mind would not uphold those statements as facts. It’s obvious that Mr. Christian has other motives i.e. the geothermal deal which fell through.

Is this the same Mr. Christian how held Hon. Skerritt with such high esteem. Is he the same Mr. Christian trying to negotiate deals of his own?
It seems to me that he is acting like someone who is scorned. Get over yourself. The world does not revolve around you. You cannot always get your way. The DLP owe you no favour because of your miss guided support. If favours were granted to everyone who said they supported the DLP; they would never be the party of the people but the party of a selected few.
Why did you remain silent until now?
Whatever credibility you had is lost. All that you're saying now should be said before you lost the geothermal contract.
Dominica and it resources belongs to all of us not only a selective few.

He is pissed that he didn't get that contract and now he is speaking out. And for those who say don't shoot the messenger and look at the facts; give me a break. What would he have done with all that information if he had gotten that contract. This is all a preemtive strike, to get people all pissed and don't re-elect the people that have derailed his opportunity and get the ones in that will give him what he want. http://www.decisionquest.com/litigation_library.php?NewsID=255

If you really care about Dominica, please read the two articles and you will have a feel for where I am getting at. Below is an exert from one of the more intellectual people. That's what most of them (Gab and others)think of us: 3rd world. By the way the term is now 'developing nation'.
" But all too often in our culture, we cannot have a decent conversation on matters. 3rd world politics gets in the way of serious policy discussions and debate."

I have proof. I had been approached to sell passports for the UWP government. Did I call Mr. Linton? No, I didn't.
Whoever talk about PJ. PJ did nothing wrong. IT was all a disguise by the Freedom Party, a conspiracy. They used us school kids. They hide behind their motives. Then destroyed the records.
Dominica never rose after that 45 day strike. Who chased away all our young bright minds? Freedom. Who broke down the race barriers on DA country? Patrick Rolland John.
Gabu its a shame you chose this path. You are talking about 79 and violence. Is this what is about. No.... We just won a "Victoria Popular"....
Stop preaching violence. Face the ballot box. No one is stupid to follow you in the streets cause when times were rough no one saw you. When you traveled with the late PM...were you angry? 1979 was a violation of our rights...removal of an elected government.
Dominica runs deeper than your threats of violence... UWP and Linton have done nothing wrong. And where were you when they were selling passports?
Get real Mr Christian!!!!

How can you gloat over the PM selling out our resource to the Russian mafia. How can you defend that. Please let's put DA first before the PM or anyone else.
he has erred and swhould answer to the electorate. Seems like a reincarnation of PJ.

Remember Dominicans almost lynched PJ for trying to sell Portsmouth? How can we sit idlyl by and see Skerrit sell out DA?

SGT.. Here is some Education fro you...

It was Lennox Linton acting in his private media practice capacity who first brought Mr Skerrit's affidavit filed on June 02, 2008 to public attention on Sunday July 27th, 2008. That special edition of Between U and Me on Q95 featured a detailed 2 hour interactive presentation on the salient points of the affidavit and Skerrit's unsigned November 4th letter to Hsiu in support of the affidavit. The record exists in the archives of Q95. There is no need for Tony Astaphan and others to seek to entitle themselves to their own facts regarding what Lennox Linton has disclosed or not disclosed in this matter.

In the course of the July 27, 2008 presentation, Lennox Linton categorically stated that Hsiu and Skerrit were at loggerheads in the BVI court. In the circumstances, he asked why then was Hsiu still our Ambassador to Beijing. Additionally, he pointed out for background and perspective that this was not the Government's court action against Hsiu... the action was taken by Shangri-La shareholder Felix Chen who named government as a defendant and therefore gave Skerrit a chance to stake government's claim to the 51% of the Shangri-La shares.

So lets get the facts straight and lets stick to the truth as opposed lies and political spin.

It was Lennox Linton who (free of any cost to the tax payer) enlightened the public on the Prime Minister's struggles in the BVI court. It was not Tony Astaphan - agent of Skerrit and recipient of 95 thousand dollars from the Dominican tax payers (before June 30, 2008) for preparing Skerrit's affidavit in the rectification lawsuit filed by Felix Chen.

Those who so desire are free to continue their bashing of Lennox Linton and hope it will prevent the hijacking of Dominica's international image by a bunch of unconscionable self interest prostitutes.

It seems that you haven't grasp the meaning of propagander just yet. As some said before, this thing have been happening in politics for ages, not only in Dominica. Good people get into politics because of the corruption they have seen and in turn after a while, they to get sucked into it or leave. There are others who simply get their feet wet just enough to get their fare share and if anything happens, they start blowing that whistle. And please stop trying to play that educated crap (that's you sniper and the other bloggers). Keep it simple not for me but for yourselves before you get lost in it. I stand by corrected because you are already lost in Gabu's progaganda skim. As I said before, I am not ignoring the facts and a matter of fact, it seems that I am getting more interested in Gabu as time goes on. For the person who mentions the cadet program, have you ever heard about public relations, and the mere fact that you ,mentioned that is simply the point I am trying to make. For the sake of Dominica please don't try to trade Mccain for Bush. I am not saying to let the government govern without answering to the people but as Obama said let's work together as a nation. SGT. code word for now on. Just for you sniper.

SGT..Stop talking crap. Gabu is not in power. What have your great PM done for DA other than make us the laughing stock of the international; community.

The last I heard, all the young people in Dominica are looking for a one way ticket out of the country. How many jobs have the PM created? How is he tackling the rising crime situation, how is he making dominica a better place for us all. The country is sinking in a cesspool of corruption!

On any front, the PM has been a dismal failure, looking after his own interests rather than the interests of the Dominican people, and I can see you're blinded by the ride.

Open your eyes and stop bashing Gabe, who in my mind is a true patriot! and have shown it.

What exactly are you saying. You use so many words to say nothing. What does any of what you say have to do with the corrupt actions of the PM.

Why are you trying so hard to change the topic. Is the PM really as corrupt as all of the world can see except for the few boom boom flies around him like you.

Maybe that's why you were trying to prove so hard that you're educated

The court has spoken. Try another one, I bet you guys will think twice. It was nice talking to you all about this matter. Some of you are a piece of work. As the lady said, "gone are the days." Just a food of thought: Formal education is now open to the many, not the few as before. Keep it simple next time. Learn about you audience.

Lennox and Gabu watch out...Check out #3

Integrity Commission rejects complaint
The Citizens Forum for Good Governance today confirmed that it has received a response to its complaint sent to the Integrity Commission on October 13, 2008.

The Commission has advised that it is constrained to hold:

1. that the provisions of the Integrity in Public Office Act, 2003 cannot apply retrospectively to the alleged conduct on the part of any person in public life, if the alleged conduct complained of occurred before the Act entered into operation;

2. that, consequently, the complaint by the Citizens Forum made in their letters to the Commission dated the 13th and 16th days of October 2008 does not pertain to matter the Commission is empowered to deal with under the Act and is, therefore rejected by the Commission as provided by section 32(1) (b) of the Integrity in Public Office Act, 2003;

3. that having rejected the complaint, the person against whom the complaint was lodged has the right to institute legal proceedings against the complainant in accordance with the provisions of section 32(2) of the Act; and

4. that in keeping with the decision of the Commission taken on the 23rd October 2008, this decision of the Commission will be communicated to the person in public life against whom the complaint has been made.

In the public interest of justice, we categorically disagree with this decision. We are particularly concerned about the implications of this ruling for breaches of the Act that took place between June 5th, 2003 and September 1st, 2008 – a period in which we are told the Act was asleep even though all persons in public life had knowledge of its existence.

We find it completely unacceptable that the very members of Parliament who voted for this legislation and subsequently offended its provisions while it was asleep and can now be allowed to benefit from the technicality that they cannot be held accountable for any breaches of the Act prior to September 1st, 2008.

The Commission's decision, communicated to the Citizen's Forum for Good Governance today, February 19th, 2009 will be discussed in detail at a press conference on Friday 20th February, 2009 at the Garraway Hotel from 10.00 a.m

James, the topic inow is lennox can be sued for defamation of character as ststed out by the IPO.

The IPO said Skerrit did nothing wrong, so all the uwp soldiers and those that jump3ed on lennox bandwagon are now sorry for their sins.

Train, How could the IPO rule that Skerrit did nothing wrong. All they sauid was that the law passed by Parliament could not be made retroactive that it only covered issues after it was passed. Meaning after September 2008.

They found some smart-ass lawyers to make that ruling. It does not however preclude the next government from going after him when they take office.

He is not in the clear...far from it!

Jason, the IPO said there was no illegal activity by the PM in trying to get DA's 51% share.

Lennox and Gabu now have to lick their wounds.

Mr. Christian, are you at all connected with facts. The court has ruled in favor of Dominica, why not rejoice and be happy that Dominica won. A win for Dominica is good, is it not. You seem to sit high and just blurt out sentence after sentence, when facts come out in a court of law, you say little, reverting to the same pattern. Credibility although appearing to remain sound is destroyed silently. The political hacks will continue to use you as a prop until no longer needed...Be civil be constructive...and run for office if you love the country so much. Why Lennox never run..?
