Dominica's UN Ambassador Awarded Honorary Degree

Dominica’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency, Crispin Gregoire, was conferred The Saba University School of Medicine degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa at the School’s graduation ceremony in Worcester, Massachusetts recently.
The Dominican diplomat was selected for the honorary doctorate because of his contributions to diplomacy and the global non-profit sector.
Prior to his appointment in September 2002 as Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Gregoire served as Director of Global Programs of the Washington-based Board Source Incorporated, formerly the National Center for Nonprofit boards which focuses on governance of civil society organizations.
From 1992-1998 he worked in Nigeria as a program consultant of the Ford Foundation. He also worked in Dominica as Director of the Dominica Field Office of Save the Children –USA. Under his dynamic leadership, the Save the Children Program implemented a number of community development projects in the Carib Territory and other northeastern villages.
Throughout his distinguished career, Ambassador Gregoire has produced a number of publications, including: “NGO Governance in Central and Eastern Europe: Problems and Needs” Journal of Social Economy and Law and “Think Tanks as Policy Catalysts in Africa –Governance and Management Strategies. Presentation at Capacity Building Workshop for African Think Tanks, Harare, Zimbabwe, March 1999.
Ambassador Gregoire received his formal education in Dominica at the Grand Bay Boys’ School and the Saint Mary’s Academy and at Columbia University in New York City and Howard University in Washington, DC.
