Marigot, Dominica (TDN) The Marigot Development Corporation (MDC), has proudly secured scholarships valued at $1.9million for Dominican students to study in the United States, through its four-year old‘Study in the US program’.

The program targets students under 17 years old who are eligible for entrance at a US Private Boarding School. Students are facilitated in preparing for the entrance exam (the SSAT), selecting schools, applying to the schools and obtaining scholarships.

Michael Pascal, Project Coordinator, says they are very pleased with the level of success at this stage in their program, although not all students receiving awards were able to take advantageof the opportunity.

The scholarship awards ranged from 80% to 90% of the total cost of Tuition & Board at these Private Boarding Schools. He is confident that if the students continue to excel at theseelite boarding schools, they will be able to gain scholarships to continue their education at some of the top ranked colleges and universities in North America.

The student are Yohna Telemaque and Jermin Languedoc of North East Comprehensive (NEC),Noni Georges of Convent High School (CHS) and Amarlia Bellot of Dominica State College(DSC) who will join six (6) students currently in the program. All four (4) new students received substantial offers of Scholarship.

Preparation of the next group of students for the Private Boarding School program begins in September 2015.
