Wynante Adrian-Roberts will step down as Deputy Attorney General.
Cockburn Town, TCI (TDN) Just four months after taking up the position of Deputy Attorney General in the Turks and Caicos Island, Dominica national Wynante Adrien-Roberts has resigned from her post.

Her resignation was confirmed early Monday through a press statement from the government press office. There were widespread allegations in the press that Adrien-Roberts had decided to quit her post due to a tense and difficult working relationship with Attorney General Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles.

However, this was flatly denied by the government press release issued by Governor Peter Beckingham, which made it clear that Adrien-Roberts was resigning in order to take up a more lucrative offer in another Caribbean island.

The Governor was clear that both he and Adrien-Roberts were refuting the claim that she was unable to work with the Attorney General.

His statement read in part: "This is simply not the case. Ms Adrien-Roberts told me some weeks ago that she had been offered, unexpectedly, a senior appointment in the Eastern Caribbean.

"I said she should not let her position in TCI stop her accepting this important job, and she subsequently decided, quite reasonably, to take it.

"She has helpfully given us more than the required notice in order to seek a successor.”

Following the release, Hayden Boyce editor-in-chief of the TCI Sun said in spite of the Governor’s denial he continues to stand behind his reporting that Adrien-Roberts was “leaving her post because, among other things, she could not get along with Attorney General Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles.”

Boyce said that he had hard facts to back up his allegations and accused the Governor of demonstrating “a complete ignorance of the inner workings and functioning of a rather critical Government department.”

Adrien Roberts was hired to focus on training and development within the Attorney General’s office. She holds a Master of Laws, LLM, in international law, business, trade and environmental from the George Washington University, USA; a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica; and a law degree from the University of the West Indies.
