Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- Singer Michele Henderson who is Dominica’s Goodwill Ambassador has won the top spot at the 2014 Caribbean Community (CARICOM) song competition with her composition entitled “Celebrating CARICOM.”

The versatile singer who has wooed audiences across the world said she was very happy and excited that her work had caught regional attention, and viewed that as a positive for Dominica. “I feel very proud that our little island Dominica can come up on top for a change, in a regional competition,” she said.

More than 50 regional artistes from 15 countries participated in the competition. Ten finalists were selected from which Henderson came out victorious.

The CARICOM song competition is in its second year and the aim is to engender the full participation of CARICOM nationals in composing and selecting a CARICOM song which will be used at official functions including meetings of CARICOM Heads of Government and at international events.
