Toronto, Canada (TDN) -- Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada 2013, which took place recently in Toronto was a resounding success as seven beautiful ladies vied for the title. In the end, Kanika Ambrose who represented the community of Mahaut walked away with the title.
Her Wob was designed by Lorraine Delsol of House of Lorraine. Kanika sold her community by detailing the business places, tourist spots, musical cultural and people. She had in her basket an array of products like the soca dark and white Rum, the blue soap and bay-rum all manufactured at Dominica Coconut Product factory, which is located in her community.
First Runner up was Ms. Alroy Breedy Paul who represented the community of Trafalgar. Ms. Breedy highlighted the Dominica premier tourist spot the Trafalgar falls and also spoke about the generation of electrical power through a direct link to the abundance of water flowing from the Trafalgar area.
Second Runner up was Ms. Verna Shillingford who represented the Town of Roseau. Ms. Shillingford spoke eloquently of the town and the world class sports stadium which is the venue for international cricket and the home of the World Creole Music Festival. She listed the many historical structures and highlighted the significance to our ancestors.
Third Runner Up: Julie Benjamin Ufom-adu represented Wesley. Other contestants were Ingrid Riviere – St. Joseph, Allyson Jno-Baptiste - Morne Prosper and Odette Fontaine-- Fond St. Jean & Bagatelle.
Winner of the Ti Madame, was Desiree Hilton who represented The Carib Territory.
His Excellence Vince Henderson, Dominica’s Representative to the United Nations, represented the Government of Dominica. Also in attendance was Michael Willius, Consulate General of St Lucia member of the Caribbean Diplomatic core.
The Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada Cultural Award was presented to Mr. Raymond Lawrence. His niece Fayola Lawrence Bovell accepted on his behalf.
The show was a huge success where hundreds of Dominicans, their Caribbean friends and families came out to support.
