Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- Dominica’s Health Minister, Julius Timothy is back in Dominica following treatment at a Martinique hospital for a mild stroke.
On Wednesday May 01, 2013, Timothy was rushed by air ambulance to Martinique for medical treatment after collapsing at his home.
On his return to Dominica, he issued a written statement in which he thanked his Dominican and Martinique doctors. He also confirmed that he had suffered a stroke, which had left him with slurred speech.
Timothy also expressed confidence that he would regain his speech saying “I must report that I am recovering well from my ordeal, and expect by God’s grace to make a full recovery. Currently I have some challenges with speech but my doctors believe that I will be able to overcome these challenges in good time.”
Timothy is the former Deputy leader of the United Workers Party who joined the Dominica Labour Party in 2006 where he has served as a cabinet member ever since.
